Cottage Garden Border

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

Lindsey weeded this natural cottage garden border under the Holly Tree at the front of the garden. It already has wild garlic, a wild fern and Cuckoo Pints Arum maculatum growing in it, so these were left, but the weeds were thined out.

Front Border
Plnated with White and Apricot Foxgloves Digitalis purpurea, Hostas and Geraniums.

UPDATE The bloody slugs or snails have started eating my prize hostas! I’m off to get some spent coffee granules tomorrow!

A Bit of Car Loving!

Saturday, March 10th, 2007

Most of you probably know we drive a Peugeot Talbot 205 Rallye Sport Special.

Yes : We still have it!

We’ve had the Yellow Peril for many years, and despite 157,900 miles on the clock, it’s still going, unlike many other 205s which have since gone to the Great Scrapyard in the Sky.

This isn’t anything to do with the house, but what the heck, it’s my blog, and the site is about Andysworld.

The Solex carburetor has been playing up for many years due to possibly a worn throttle linkage or ice in the carburetor on cold mornings, in the winter it can sometimes be a pregnant dog, and in the summer also or it just needs a knew carb, or someone that understands them that can strip it down and clean it!

Today, I thought it was time to give the car some luvvving…So I’ve cleaned the leather seats ready for some leather nourishment cream, fixed a hole in the boot with Isopan P40/aluminium mesh and cleaned the carburetor with Redex.

Here is the video of The Redex Experiment hosted on You Tube.

After test driving the car, it certainly has more poke than before, and the throttle seems more responsive! We will see what those damp/cold mornings are like next week.

New Years Eve Party!

Monday, January 1st, 2007

I invited my parents, brother and his girlfriend to see the New Year in at our new house. My father brought with him a truck load of fireworks, to set off at Midnight New Years Day.

One rocket came back to earth, and exploded at head height! This is the full 9 minutes video of the event hosted at www.YouTube.com.

The event was recorded by my brother, I’m sure he’ll apologise in advance for the dodgy video footage and focus!

Sorry for the Blog Outage Again!

Those nice people that host this site, moved it to another server again and broke it! I didn’t notice yesterday, because I went out yesterday evening for my Birthday!

One night off, isn’t bad!

Blog is Back!

Tuesday, November 15th, 2005

The Hosting Company that hosts this website decided to move it to another server early this morning at 01:08 because of resource issues. They didn’t communicate this we me, and the first I spotted it when I was notified by Walter early this morning at 06:45. I checked the website and I had noticed that, it had moved to another server, but some embedded code in the blog, was preventing it from working correctly.

Thanks Walter for spotting it and letting me know!

"Purple Spotted Goby" – Mogurnda Adspersa

Thursday, September 1st, 2005

I also noticed in an aquatic outlet today some very inexpensive fish, at giveaway prices to clear, described as Purple Spotted Goby Mogurnda Asdpersa, I took all six, these were probably reduced to clear because they probably grow to two foot long in six weeks.

There’s an excellent article here on what is commonly called the Southern purple spotted gudgeon hosted at PracticalFishkeeping.co.uk

Hopefully with a colony of six, I may end up with a pair, they are handsome little character fish.
