Wednesday, October 17th, 2012Chimney Stack Upgrade End of Day 1
Wednesday, October 17th, 2012End of Day 1, to my surprise the old chimney stack has gone, and been reduced to rubble in a trailer, only one good square chimney pot remains, so we will have to purchase six replacements.
and the builders have started to brick up the new stack up to the scalfolding.
the builders mentioned the first courses of bricks they could just remove by hand, as well as the pots, they did not know what was holding the stack together!
Chimney Stack Upgrade Day 1
Tuesday, October 16th, 2012Chim chim-in-ey, chim chim-in-ey Chim chim cher-ee!
Monday, October 15th, 2012A sweep is as lucky, as lucky can be Chim chim-in-ey, chim chim-in-ey Chim chim cher-oo!
By the time you have read this, our builder will have started to disassemble our chimney stack! After many months of negotiations with my neighbour, and reviewing quotations for the rebuild of the chimney stack, work starts today!
The chimney stack has reached the end of it’s life, and is very weathered, and the pots have started to crumble/crack on the stack, so it’s being pulled down, and rebuilt from the ridge line, in the same style and brick as existing stack, eventually in the future funds permitting we will have one of the flues lined, and a wood burning stove installed.

My Allotment in October 2012
Sunday, October 14th, 2012My allotment in October 2012, it’s been a productive year, considering the wet, and the Allotments only started in April 2012, I’ve had many strawberries, a few raspberries, a few cauliflowers, and planted my asparagus beds. a few Sweetcorn, onions, garlic and shallots. Potatoes and Sweetcorn, were a disaster but it’s a start!
I’ve achieved what I wanted to achieve in 2012 with my allotment, now start thinking abour 2013!
I’ve just finished weeding approx 10m x 5m, and finished weeding the asparagus beds, planted some onions, and spinch to over winter, and broadcast some green manure, Hungarian grazing rye.
When VMware Snapshots go wrong – Snapshot Hell!
Friday, October 12th, 2012this is the worst case of Snapshot Hell, I’ve ever seen! It’s not the largest snapshot, the total is only approx 83GB in snapshots, but the number of snapshot files!
A Total of 79 snapshots per virtual machine disk, see screenshots (I’ve obscured the server name for privacy!)
According to this VMware Knowledge Base article the maximum number of snapshots is 32 in a snapshot chain.
I’ve switched OFF and tuned to BBC Radio 2.
Thursday, October 11th, 2012With the recent replacement of Chris ‘Saviour of Radio 1″ Moyles, on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick ‘Grimmy’ Grimshaw, because BBC Radio 1, wanted to reach a younger audience, well BBC Radio 1, it’s worked.
I’ve switched OFF and over to BBC Radio 2.
I’ve tried, I’ve certainly tried, since “Grimmy” took over the show from 24 September 2012, but finally this week, I could stand it no more, and I switched over to BBC Radio 2, with Chris Evans!
A DJ I used to listen to on BBC Radio 1. So 13+ years I’ve been listening to the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show, now it looks like I’ll be listening to Chris Evans, and Radio 2 in the mornings!
