AT LAST! WE’VE MOVED!

Friday, August 25th, 2006

After several different quotations, I selected a local company to move us. They arrived shortly after 9.00am today in a 7.5 tonne luton van.

Three trips, and 3.30pm, most of our (Andy’s) stuff have been moved. Does that mean I’ve got 21 tonne of stuff! I’m very happy with them, the two van driver and porter, didn’t stop working, even when I bought them lunch, and Lindsey made them tea, and gave them KitKats! They earned there tenner tip each!

The house is in chaos, but BT and my ISP Eclipse have successfully managed to get my telephone and Broadband transferred. I’m further from the telephone exchange, by another 1.5km, so I’m about 3.5km from the exchange, my ADSL Sync is lower than previous, but my throughout is higher! Weird!

Oh, if you know our telephone number it’s not changed! We’ve taken it with us!

Carpet fitted just in time.

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

On the eve of moving house, the carpet fitters finished fitting the carpet at 7.30pm. They eventually arrived at 3.15pm with the carpet, and told me, it would take a couple of hours to fit!

The carpet is a 100% wool, neutral beige, Lindsey thinks the colour is wrong! and I’ve now got to take my shoes off at the front door before walking around, so remember that when visting!

As you can see from the photographs, the fitters left all thier rubbish for me to take to the tip! It looks a bit more homely, despite the rustic look of bare walls!

Andy goes scrumping!

Saturday, August 19th, 2006

ScrumpingThe act of stealing apples from a cider orchard. (The word comes from Scrumpy cider).

I’ve been eating plums from the plum tree in the garden, I noticed after this afternoons heavy down-pour, that apples and plums were falling off the trees this eve, so tested a few on the tree! Very Nice, I think they are Victoria Plums.

The ceilings downstairs in the lounge and dining rooms are now finished, the skirting boards and window sills are complete and we are now cleaning the house as we move-in later this month.

I’ve been removing the carpet, underlay and carpet grippers on the landing and bathroom, carpet grippers are nasty and one bit me on the finger! Why there’s carpet in the bathroom, nasty!

I’ll take the camera, on my next visit and take some more pictures of the bedrooms upstairs and the kitchen, and must take some pictures of the consumer unit for my Sparky Friend!

House update…

Monday, August 14th, 2006

It’s been a very difficult weekend, with the loss of Esme, it’s been very quiet around the house, Esme would always “pop-up” at the window when we would arrived back at the house, as she recognised the car engine.

I think Esther keeps looking in her basket to check if Esme is there.

Lounge ceiling in the new house is painted with “One Coat” Crown white emulsion, we need to PVA the dining room ceiling, and paint it also, we’ve been waiting for the “damp patch” to dry! I’ve turned on the storage heaters this evening, as the whether has gone very cold, with the wet damp wind.

My partner has painted the skirting boards and window sills, whilst I pack my office, and de-cable all the network and server equipment for the move, which is now scheduled with the Removal Company for the 25 August 2006. The plasters have also completed work on the corner near the front door.

A few pictures of Esme and Esther a few years ago. Esme was five and a half years old when she died. She died of Aspiration pneumonia.
