Monday, April 22nd, 2024Andysworld! comes home!
Thursday, July 25th, 2019It’s been just a little over 10 years ago that I migrated Andysworld! and all my hosting to the US, with
BUT – 20 days ago, I was left with
- No hosting.
- No email for 4 days.
There was no explanation of when it would return. So I’ve voted with my feet, and brought it all back to the UK, where I’ve been hosting with Krystal.co.uk since 2004, in one shape or form, when they acquired PurpleCloud!! (in 2011).
This is JustHost.com strapline – “Professional Web Hosting from Just Host – JustHost”
All I can say is…Just****.com.
So since I’ve moved it all back, there maybe some teething issues…
The White Rabbit – Happy Thursday!
Thursday, February 25th, 2016HOW TO Publish from Microsoft Word to WordPress
Monday, February 8th, 2016I’ve wanted to publish/write articles for Andysworld! For many years, directly from Microsoft Word (offline), and then hit a button to publish. I never noticed that Microsoft Word has this incorporated!
You select:-
- File > New
- Blog Post > Create
- Select your Account (blog)
- Select a category
- Type something.
- Hit Publish
Simply! Done!
Andysworld! is back, and fixed!
Sunday, February 5th, 2012Yes, sorry for the few days outage, it would appear that a WordPress plugin just decided to go bad!
and the answer is or was:-
The Plugin “Tweet This”! I”m running version 1.5.1
Adds a “Tweet This Post” link to every post and page. Shortens URLs in advance through Th8.us (19 characters). Customize under Settings > Tweet This. By Richard X. Thripp.
there is new version 1.8, but I do not like upgrading for the sake of upgrading, and not being able to upgrade to 3.3.1 of WordPress because if the php on the host, and most plugins are now designed for 3.3.1…
Stange how a plugin went bad. I’m going to leave for a few days….

Andysworld! downtime!
Saturday, February 4th, 2012I shutdown Andysworld! for 12 hours, (between Feb 4 00:00 and 13:00) because I was having issues with the performance and database, But I suspect the issue could be with my home broadband throughput.
in the process of checking the database, the website may have sent out, emails by mistake if you are registered on Andysworld!
Whoops!
Sorry about that!
Hopefully back to normal, and was nothing!
Andysworld! new logo and identity on the internet
Tuesday, June 14th, 2011I was getting bored with the stock template image, and although I had changed it from the default blue to green, I’ve been wanting to change it for a while. As you may have noticed we have a new “clickable Logo “. If you click it, it will return to the homepage (root of the website).
I’ve been testing VMware View 4.6 (Virtual Desktops using PCoIP) experimenting with Windows 7 64 bit Professional and Adobe Photoshop CS5 64 bit, using virtual desktop workstations. I wanted to test fully, so I spent a few hours testing Adobe Photoshop Cs5 (64 bit) and Corel Paint Shop Pro x3 to check what performance was like testing the in the Cloud! I think the performance was better than installing it on my standard PC.
As more web site traffic comes to Andysworld! than it did five years ago, I’ve decided it’s time for a facelift, so the logo is the start.
As you may have noticed I “borrowed” the theme for the logo, from a well known Search Engine, if it works for them! the random colours in the logo, reflect the choas in my life, from one day to the next!

Mobile blogging
Friday, January 7th, 2011Trying something different today, I’m having a day of remote working via an iPad and 3G. To check to see what average data usage allowance I use in a day. So far and it’s only been a few hours checking email and a few websites, I’ve Sent 5.8MB and Received 131MB.
I’m also using an iPad blog applet as well to post this, to reduce data usage.
The Suzuki needed a MOT today, yes it’s been almost three years we’ve had it, so I’m buying time in Morrisons’ cafe waiting for the car. My banger is off the road at present because the starter motor or solenoid is broke.
This is an odd message you cannot update large apps via 3G. I hardly think 20MB is a lot!
Mr Apple is obviously helping you save money!
UPDATE:- My Dad had a moan about the grammer, so I’ve corrected it”
Hosting Down!
Thursday, September 23rd, 2010Internet Explorer 6.x Users!
Wednesday, November 25th, 2009Sorry IE 6.0 users, well sorry to the 16% of visitors, that still have IE 6.0 installed!, the formatting has been wrong for ages, I’ve just found the fault and fixed it, I’ve also removed Energy Saving readings for the moment, because my Wattson has been removed from the computer, because I think the permament connection to the computer, has been what causing to to crash and hang!
I don’t have IE 6.0 any more on any production computers, I only have IE 6.0 in Virtual Machines! I’ve switched to Firefox, Safari and Chrome long ago…
