Cats new toy – Cat It Design Series Sensory Activity Centre

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

I thought as both Lindsey & I work long days, I would purchase the cats (Esther, Angus and Tilly) a new interractive toy, so they wouldn’t get bored during the day, and to stimulate their minds and body!

I purchased a new Cat It Design Series Sensory Activity Centre for them to play with from Purrr-Fection Ltd (www.purrr-fectionragdolls.co.uk).  It consists of three items

  • The Catit® Design Senses Massage Center
  • The Catit® Design Senses Scratch Pad
  • The Catit® Design Senses Play Circuit

Most times, we purchase toys and they don’t play with them, well here’s the proof, they like the Cat It Design Series Sensory Activity Centre.

My car has now stopped whistling!

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

The RAC patrol man said “it’s the EGR or Blow-off valve!”. But it’s Safe to drive, just turn up the radio or wear ear plugs.

Garage No.1 said “it’s a pipe off the engine in-let, we’ll need all day on the lift, to take all the pipes off to see which one”. But it’s Safe to drive, just turn up the radio or wear ear plugs.

Garage No.2 said “it could be the EGR valve”, But it’s Safe to drive, just turn up the radio or wear ear plugs.

Coming home from Garage No.2 on Friday, at roughly the same place on the dual carriageway it STOPPED!

I’ve driven 350 miles since, and it’s stopped whistling, so maybe it’s dropped off!

My Car now whistles!

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

I’ve got another nasty, whistling noise from the car engine now. I’ve got to turn the radio up full, to overcome the noise!

The harder I accelerate the louder it gets!

I could idle, but I wouldn’t get anywhere.

Back to the garage tomorrow am!

Internet Explorer 6.x Users!

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Sorry IE 6.0 users, well sorry to the 16% of visitors, that still have IE 6.0 installed!, the formatting has been wrong for ages, I’ve just found the fault and fixed it, I’ve also removed Energy Saving readings for the moment, because my Wattson has been removed from the computer, because I think the permament connection to the computer, has been what causing to to crash and hang!

I don’t have IE 6.0 any more on any production computers, I only have IE 6.0 in Virtual Machines! I’ve switched to Firefox, Safari and Chrome long ago…

Arnie is now Bulleyproof!

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

I’ve been having a few issues with Arnie, he took a serious beating from Bert (the Zebra Tilapia) , why a 22″ Arrowana, should have a problem with an 8″ African Tilapia, I don’t know, so I’ve removed Bert (the Zebra Tilapia)  from the Oddball tank, leaving Arnie and a few large clown loaches. However, Arnie  did stopped feeding, so I’ve got him feeding again on Live Crickets! He didn’t like Locusts (nor did I, difficult things to feed), but Ernie loved them!

Car Maintenance

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

I put on my mechanics head today, to perform some simple maintenance on my car. One small rubber damper had fallen off which holds on the engine cover. Whilst I removed the engine cover, another one had fallen off, so I had to replace two. Simple job with a 14mm spanner and items from eBay.

If you look at the top (rocker cover) and bottom right (of picture) you’ll see the dampers (or lack off)

this was a little more difficult, to re-align the holes with the dampers than I thought!

Smoking Ring

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

as we used to call it back in the day, also known as Token Ring. I was cleaning out some cupboards and found an old computer laptop circa 1996-1998, and found this in the PCMCIA slot, Token ring LAN speeds were either 4 Mbit/s or 16 Mbit/s, and it was very important not to connect the wrong device at the wrong speed to the ring, or you knew about it, as you brought the ring down, and all devices on it! I learnt that rule very quickly! Far better than ethernet in the day!
