I’ve got another nasty, whistling noise from the car engine now. I’ve got to turn the radio up full, to overcome the noise!
The harder I accelerate the louder it gets!
I could idle, but I wouldn’t get anywhere.
Back to the garage tomorrow am!

isn’t life typical, my car broke down this morning, and it only happens to be My Birthday! The RAC patrol man, told me it’s the auxilary belt tensioner.
I put on my mechanics head today, to perform some simple maintenance on my car. One small rubber damper had fallen off which holds on the engine cover. Whilst I removed the engine cover, another one had fallen off, so I had to replace two. Simple job with a 14mm spanner and items from eBay.
If you look at the top (rocker cover) and bottom right (of picture) you’ll see the dampers (or lack off)
close up of missing rubber damper, the rubber eventually gives and snaps off!
14mm spanner and all done.
cream spikey things are the new dampers.
this was a little more difficult, to re-align the holes with the dampers than I thought!
Appoximatelty fourty miutes ago, I was double flashed in the dark, 10 feet later, I passed national speed limit applies signs, I turned the car around to check, and the signs going back in stated 30mph. I later drove up to a Van full of the fuzz in the dark, with a mobile speed camera!
Who were laughing!!!
Umm.
Live by the sword die by the sword!
I’ll have to keep an eye on the post! See what drops through the letterbox, I was also programming my TomTom at the time!
I’ve just fitted a K&N High-Flow Air Filter to my new car.
Yes, another car, it’s a Citreon Xsara LX 2.0 HDi (turbo diesel).
Over 100 million disposable air filters are discarded each year. This filter is cleanable and will last for the life of the vechile. My bit for the environment. and I don’t have to change it for another 50,000 miles.
I’ve got some nice K&N stickers for my car as well!!! (I’ve stuck them on!), I think these could be to warn the doppy mechanics not to through away the lifetime air filter.
This is the first time I’ve seen the car in the daylight, I collected the car on Monday 21st January, and it was raining and getting dark, by the time, I arrived home it was dark. We’ve been driving and returning home from work, all week in the dark. So this is the first time, I’ve had a good look at the car and take her photo! On-board computer states we’ve averaged 36.9mpg, and we’ve only done 127 miles!

Suzuki Swift VVTS 1.5GLX 5 Door Petrol in Galatic Grey Metallic.

If you were wondering it’s just been newly registered on 21st January 2008, so it’s on a ’57 plate!

New 1490cc Petrol Engine. Checking where I top up the wash bottle!

Checking where I check the oil! All seems very new!
The Peugeot 205 nearly didn’t start today! Must do something with it!
I collected our new car this afternoon at 4.00pm, and have just had the pleasure of driving it back from the dealer in York. It’s fantastic. I’ll post pictures when daylight permits!
We’ve Ordered A New Car!!!!
Those of you that know us, will know that we have been driving a Yellow Peugeot 205 Raylle Sport Special for a very long time. (Yes, we still have it, and we are still driving it on a daily basis, it’s now coming up to 168,000 miles, with the same engine, okay, the gearbox maybe new and it has a new water pump recently fitted in the last 6 months!).
So after many weeks of searching and test driving cars, Suzuki Swift 1.5GLX, Toyota Yaris TR, Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 16v, Reanult Clio and a Skoda Fabia 1.4 16v, we have decicded to order a new Suzuki Swift 1.5GLX 5 Door in Galactic Grey Metallic from Glen Garage, York
It should arrive in approximately 14 days.
Oh and just when I thought I was flush with money this month, the gearbox in the Yellow Peril broke, it’s not been happy selecting 2nd Gear for over 12 months, and then it stopped going into 2nd Gear!
New gearbox required!

If you look carefully, the new silver thing is the new shiny gearbox! Hope this one does 157,000 miles!
