Yeah, I’m the Taxman – HMRC Self Assessment Tax Return, So do I have to Pay Nothing or Do I owe you 20p?

Friday, January 17th, 2014

Let me tell you how it will be
There’s one for you, nineteen for me
‘Cause I’m the Taxman
Yeah, I’m the Taxman
Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don’t take it all
‘Cause I’m the Taxman
Yeah, I’m the Taxman

George Harrison, 1965

Too bloody true…..

If you are like me, and need to do, a Tax Return each year by Self Assessment, you’ve only got two weeks left (14 days) to get it done online here – http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/sa/, try not to leave it to the last minute because the HMRC server get’s bogged down, and times out!

I’ve actually remembered to do mine, on time, but I’m confused it says, “nothing to pay”, and then “You have a total of £0.20 becoming due for payment

and despite writing off Tax owed my millionaires in the UK, I bet they will chase the small man for 20p, the fat cats get richer…..

eh, Taxman, if you read Twitter/Google+, you can let me know!

Programming with Sphero 2.0

Friday, November 22nd, 2013

I’ve had my Sphero 2.0 less than two weeks, so you can use your Android or Apple smartphone to control your Sphero 2.0, but I want to program it, so it comes out during the day, entertains the cats, and then goes back “home” to charge up…

so far these are my efforts, using a Ubuntu 12.10 64-bit Linux computer, a bluetooth USB adaptor, and the ROS (Robot Operating System) and Sphero SDK.

ROS (Robot Operating System) provides libraries and tools to help software developers create robot applications. It provides hardware abstraction, device drivers, libraries, visualizers, message-passing, package management, and more. ROS is licensed under an open source, BSD license.
