roof-day5a-008

I left this morning for work, and the roof needed slating on the back, and when I returned home it was completed.

In discussions with the roofers, they told me, “when they lick them and stick them its quicker!”

Today is the last and final day, whilst they add the angled ridges to the apex, and tidy up.

Goodbye Orange, and hello Three!

I’ve been with Orange for over 18 years, but times are changing, and I no longer feel it represents good value for money for me, and looking around at the other airtime mobile carriers, I think Three has all the features and more I need now.

  • Unlimited minutes
  • Unlimited texts
  • 30GB a month data allowance
  • WiFi Calling
  • 4G coverage at home, and at work.
  • Feel at Home destinations in 42 countries.
  • 4G Super Voice

and all this costs me less, than what I’ve been topping on Orange for many years!

I’m surprised how easily it was to port my old Orange number to Three, Orange just handed out the PAC code, and I entered it into the My3 application, and within 24 hours, it had been transferred to Three.

So if you have my existing mobile number it’s not changed it’s the same!

New Welsh Slate Roof – Roof off – Day 1

roof-day1-011

Day 1, and the roof starts getting removed, by the end of the day 1, all the slates, under-felt, battens are removed, new TLX Gold is secured with new battens to the front of the house.

TLX Gold is a high performance insulating breather membrane, e.g. posh under-felt to the layman, it costs as much as gold as well!

TLX Gold – improves the thermal value of your roof without a risk of condensation and with little or no change to the roof height.

New Welsh Slate Roof – Scaffolding – Day 0

When we purchased the property over 10 years ago, the current roof was surveyed and we were told, it does not look pretty, and is not going to win any awards, but “does it function as a roof – and keep water out?”, and if that is true, do not touch it, it could last, 5, 10 or 15 years, and it will let you know when it starts to fail.

Well that day finally came a few years ago, and I’ve been checking buckets in the attic ever since!

The time has finally come to replace our original welsh slate roof, and today is the day the scaffolding goes up.
