Why not @TileApp for Christmas!, a handy Christmas Present for that gadget loving someone that is always losing stuff!

November 10th, 2017

if you have a smart phone, and keep losing your keys, wallet why not use TileApp, I’ve been using TileApp for a few years now, and now it’s time to reTile again, and here are my new Tiles (or tags) to hang on my keys, and by the power of bluetooth, and Crowd Source GPS, will hopefully be able to find my keys if I lose them.

It has saved me a number of times, when I’ve misplaced my wallet or keys, and I can check with my phone the last time it contacted the tile, and displays that location on a map.

Why don’t vendors @sainsburys ?@BootsUK ?@tileapptest test their Websites anymore!!!

November 7th, 2017

<RANT ON>

What is happening with the world, companies not testing websites anymore, but still wanting us to purchase ONLINE, in the last week, I’ve been having issues with

1. Sainsburys

Changed their system from usernames to use email addresses, only my email address is already registered, so website crapped out!

2. BootsUK

Checking out, causes this….

Boots Website Error

3, Tile App

When you add a product to your basket, the price increases by 10 GBP for no reason!

How on earth, users with little computing experience deal with the likes of these diddly donks I’ll never know! But to answer diddly donks customer support questions because they seem incable of understanding what I’m telling them!

I’ve tried clearing my cookies, I’ve tried multiple browsers, e.g. Internet Explorer, Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera. I’ve cleared my cache, I’ve tried multiple computers, I’ve tried different ISPs, I’ve changed my under crackers, I’ve had a good breakfast, YOUR WEBSITE still doesn’t WORK!

and nobody seems to care!

Oh, Boots fixed my issue, they deleted my account, and asked me to create a new one!!!!!!

They’ve been installed for a few months now, Lindsey wanted some gates fitting at the end of the drive, so she designed them and approached a local fabricator to get them made and installed.

My best bargain on eBay - A 99 pence - Nest Protect - Smoke and CO Detector

September 16th, 2017

Whilst browsing the eBay Beekeeping category for a bargain, I came across an item called a HIVE Nest Protect.

boxed-nest-protect

I must admit, I had a little chuckle if you don’t know what a HIVE Nest Protect is, it’s a Smoke + Carbon Monoxide detector - why a Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector was doing listed in a Beekeeping category, and then noticed it had probably been listed with the eBay app, and matched to Beekeeping because of the work “HIVE”.

The Nest Protect - Smoke and Carbon Monoxide detector was recently tested in the Which? September 2017 magazine, and scored 93% Best Buy in tests, as quickest to respond in Smoke and Carbon Monoxide tests, and Which? magazine recommends that Smoke Alarms are replaced every  10 years, when was the last time you checked or replaced your smoke alarms?

The Nest Protect is manufactured by Google, and is part of their Home Automation range, and it connects to WiFi and also has a Smartphone App, the Nest Protect also checks itself daily, to make sure it’s operating correctly, and based on the data being collected by Google, smoke alarms are most likely to sound in the UK on Pancake Day!

Recommended Retail Price - £99 and from eBay 99 pence!

Priceless!

Game of Thrones Seasons 1 - 7 - Done!

September 2nd, 2017

game-of-thrones-logo1

In 2011, friends in the workplace mentioned this HBO TV series from the US “Game of Thrones”, but not having Sky Atlantic or any interest at that time, did not follow it up, but recent curiosity got the better of me, with all this hysteria in the news, that maybe something was missing from my life, and I think this just coincided with finale of Season 7 last week.

game-of-thrones

So I’ve watched the complete box set end to end, all 67 episodes, that’s about 3 days of continuous viewing, although I noticed that the intro and credits, add 4 minutes to each episode, so I could reduce viewing time by 4.5 hours!

and it’s a very gripping excellent series, and I will have to wait for Final Season 8, in 2018/2019!

Just a word of caution, Game of Thrones does contain strong language, sex, blood, and dragons - not necessarily in that order!

I now need to go on Mastermind as my head is fairly overloaded with GoT!

Information from Roadworks.org has proved correct, and more work continues by BT Openreach contractors to now connect “the shire” to the local exchange.

Here are some photographs of the recent works, I’ve noticed that they have been smashing clay “pots” or pipes to get into the current telephone cables.

Holiday Photos 2015 - 2017 (at last!) - I told you I’d get round to it!

August 23rd, 2017

This blog post is long overdue, and it’s to notify you that I have now fully updated the Holiday Photograph Album, to include the holiday photographs we’ve taken on the following holidays from March 2015 to August 2017. If you are interested in looking at our photographs, there are a few….(and a special treat the Reviewer - Lindsey has included a few photos of herself, which is a rare treat!)

I’ll also include some written ”narration” because I’ve removed Lindsey’s catalog numbers, the link above will take you directly to the album if you want to go direct to the photos for specific holidays, click below

1. India & Bhutan (Feb/March 2015)

(Photos in this order - Delhi, Wagah, Amritsar, McLeod Ganj, Shimla, Kurseong, Darjeeling, Thimpu, Dochula Pass, Punakha, Punakha Tshechu, Paro, Tigers Nest, Kaziranga NP, Gatoonga Tea Estate, Kolkata)

2. Spain - Barcelona my jolly to VMworld (Sept 2015) - just me!

2015-10-15-084326

Just a few snaps of interesting things in Barcelona.

3. Jordan (March 2016 Postponed due to Accident)

4. Spain - Malaga, Cordoba, Seville, Granada (Sept 2016)

(Photos in this order - Malaga, Cordoba, Seville, Granada)

5. Jordan - (March 2017)

(Photos in this order - Amman, Jerash, Mount Nebo, Madaba, Shoback, Little Petra, Petra Day 1, Petra Day 2, Wadirum, Dead sea, East Desert Castles).

I have got an excuse, as you know I was involved in a car accident in 2016, which delayed me completing the album, and it does take a lot of work, as I have to resample all the photos, and manually code the website, and that involves my brain and some JAVA! (not coffee, computer programming!), and the computer the code was on has failed!

Anyway another Task on the To Do List - Completed!

Day 2 - Game of Thorns Part 2

August 14th, 2017

Day 2. - Game of Thorns Part 2

So my arms got so badly cut up with hawthorn and blackthorn, I’m wearing my leather cow-hide beekeeping gauntlets today, so I look like I’m handling radio active waste, and the thorns are still cutting into my hands and skin through the leather!

This is as far as we’ve got today, and another 8 bags to the dump!

See pictues of what we’ve cut, and what we’ve got to cut, some of this has been cut by hand with just lopers, as it’s too thick for the hedger to go throw.
