So a normal day at the office! Not quite, this is a job I’ve been putting off for almost a year, and I should have done it in the cooler weather in the winter, but it was too cold!
We’ve got two attics, (lucky me, that means more stuff I can stash away out of sight, until we move!), the house had an extension about thirty years ago, so that’s number 2 attic, which I loft boarded out months ago, so we could use it. The roof in this part is under-felted, and is very clean, and also in-habited by Pipistrelle Bats Pipistrellus pipistrellus. When I was boarding out this attic, it flew around my head, when I was hovering-up the dust after I’d finished - don’t worry, I contacted English Nature, and they sent round a Batman and his student, and I’ve had a letter from English Nature confirming I can work in the attic.
It’s attic number 1, I’ve been wanting to board out, but this is the original attic, it’s not under-felted, it’s the original 150 year old roof, dirt, comb-webs, flies, creapy-crawlies - it’s bloody horrible to work in.
I’ve just come down again, and I’m soaked in sweat and grime.
